Könitz Porzellan’s photovoltaic plant has been expanded to encompass approx. 5,000 m2.
D – Könitz Porzellan GmbH has expanded the in-house photovoltaic plant to encompass around 5,000 m2 and is thus taking an important step in the direction of future reliability and sustainable self-provision. The expansion of the surface means the production of the company from Thuringia can be powered using CO2-neutral solar energy, including the power-driven furnaces for the production of the cups. According to company accounts, the investment in the energy provision not only brings ecological benefits, it also combats the high energy prices that have put a big strain on the production costs of German industrial companies over the past years.
Thanks to the photovoltaic system, the company that was founded in 1909 is making a long-term contribution towards economic stability and independence from the energy markets. This is an essential cornerstone in emerging stronger from the current challenges
and successfully building on the company’s over 100-year history.
Könitz produces cups and mugs for customers worldwide using high-quality porcelain – both under the brand name Könitz and in the form of tailormade special designs for trading partners, merchandising and advertising customers. The company is well-known for high-quality designs and surface reproductions such as carbon and wood on porcelain.
