D – The Werbemittelmesse München (wmm) has been an institution on the trade fair landscape of the promotional products industry for 25 years. The Munich Exhibition and Event Centre, MOC, opened its doors once again for the traditional event on January 17,2024. To commemorate the anniversary, the organisers and sponsoring agencies of the event had set themselves the goal of achieving the one thousand mark in terms of attendance. It was however not possible for this record to be broken this year due to the freezing rain and black ice that subsequently resulted in the closure of the airport and cancellation of trains, because according to the organisers around 300 registered visitors didn’t make it to Munich. Nevertheless, the over 700 attending visitors produced just under 9,000 enquiries, which means the previous year level was matched.

Accordingly, the sponsoring companies admixx, Hagemanngruppe, Holfelder, BDA (previously the ipm Group) as well as the new sponsor agency, Company 4, were very satisfied with the outcome of the trade fair and with the frequency of visitors at the stands of the sponsors and of the 110 exhibitors.

The sponsoring agencies had invited the exhibitors to join them for a personal exchange in a relaxed atmosphere on the eve of the show to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the event. Michael Hagemann, founder of the wmm and Managing Director of the promotional Products agency, Hagemann, welcomed the guests, thanked all of the companions along the way and presented a review of the history of the wmm in the form of a slide show.

A new digital trade show configurator was implemented this year and the sustainability concept was further developed too: Among others the trade fair carpets were manufactured without the use of latex and without consuming any water to save CO2. After the event they were also not disposed of, but will instead be reused as floor mats for trucks or as insulating materials. Hence, the wmm is not only looking back, it is also positioning itself for the future in all areas.

A follow-up report will be printed in the next issue of eppi magazine, No. 151 (February 21, 2024).
