The uma CEOs Jochen, Peter and Alexander Ullmann (f.t.l.) are delighted at receiving the distinction as a Top 100 company.
D – The German writing instrument specialist, uma, convinced in the 29th edition of the innovation competition, TOP 100 and was awarded the TOP 100 Seal 2022. The seal has been conferred by compamedia since 1993 for outstanding innovation work by medium-sized companies. The scientific selection process is carried out by a team from the Vienna University of Economics and Business. All participants are assessed on the basis of 100 innovation indicators from five categories: Innovation-promoting top management, innovation climate, innovative processes and organisation, external orientation or open innovation as well as innovation success.
Uma, the company that is particularly well-known for its use of alternative, sustainable raw materials in the promotional writing instrument segment asserted against a field of competitors of 436 German medium-sized companies and was thus voted among the top innovators for the second time. “We continually revamp the high-quality uma refill and know how to convey the customer’s advertising message perfectly,” explained uma CEO, Alexander Ullmann. The co-CEO Jochen Ullmann added that even if it is only a writing instrument, one never tires of keeping a step ahead of the demands of the market by implementing new materials and product processes. Among others, the family business developed the according to own accounts first and currently still unique writing instrument series that is made from recycled PET bottles, which is completely manufactured in Europe in a climate-neutral process. Furthermore, the company from the Black Forest implements high-quality metal tips made from recycled aluminium drinks cans. “We have been a climate-neutral company since 2019 and are dedicated to the development of new sustainable models. As a family business in the third generation, we are proud to have been awarded with the TOP 100 Seal in 2022, after already winning the distinction in 2019. It confirms our innovative and forward-looking approach,” the third uma CEO, Peter Ullmann, explained.
