D – The Schwan-Stabilo group that the promotional products supplier, Stabilo Promotions, belongs to, made a turnover of 850.3 million Euros in the fiscal year 2022/23 (Previous year: 745.3 million Euros). The family business thus recorded around 14% growth in turnover. All three business units – Cosmetics, Pens and Outdoor – contributed towards this success. According to Schwan-Stabilo, the fact that the company managed to resume the upwards trend of the previous year in spite of volatile markets, war, inflation and a general consumer restraint, is also due to the company’s diversified alignment.

Cosmetics achieved a turnover of 387.2 million Euros. (Previous year: 312.3 million. Euros), which corresponded to a growth of 24%. The business area Outdoor set a record turnover of 245 million Euros (Previous year: 216 million Euros) i.e. a 13% increase. The pen division turned over 217.9 million Euros (Previous year: 215.8 million Euros) and thus asserted itself in a difficult market environment with a 1% increase.

The group-wide growth was achieved in all of the company’s main markets in Europe, the USA, Asia and Latin America. According to company accounts, the growth rates were in double-digits all over the world except for in Germany. Horst Brinkmann, CEO of the Stabilo pen division: “After a very positive start to the fiscal year, in the autumn we significantly felt the effects of the Ukraine war, inflation and the strong increases in the prices for energy and materials. Furthermore, although we increased our prices for our trading partners, this didn’t fully compensate the actual cost increases for energy and materials. The strong, double-digit growth outside of Europe once again confirmed our strategy of focusing on different markets. For example in spite of the long-lasting COVID restrictions, considerable growth was achieved in Asia, particularly in China. The strong demand declined in Europe on the other hand, where the trade and the consumers were more reserved.”
