D – The International Sweets & Biscuits Fair, ISM, in Cologne is taking place next year from April 23-25, 2023 as a one-off occurrence. The organisers, Koelnmesse, stated that the postponed venue date from January until later in the year was requested by the sweets and snacks industry. Cost explosions for raw materials, energy and logistics as well as an almost incalculable consumer behaviour have brought about a difficult situation, according to the industry associations. It is hoped that the situation may have calmed down by the later venue date in April and that there may be more planning security.
The challenges in the climate, raw materials, energy, supply chains, logistics, health and digitalisation areas are to form the thematic focus of the accompanying supporting programme. The international industry get-together thus aims to serve as a platform for solutions and new product ideas.
Alongside the postponement, the schedule of the largest global trade show for sweets and snacks is also being reduced down to three days. According to the organisers, this certainly isn’t having a negative effect on the interest shown by the exhibitors, namely the exhibition space is to be expanded by 40%.
