UK – The British print-on-demand platform, Merchr, has increased its capacity by investing 250,000 British Pounds (approx. 287,000 Euros) into five new, specially designed machines that have been installed in the production site in Middleton. According to company statements, the investment enables Merchr to expand its service portfolio for the company’s continually growing clientele. Furthermore, the print-on-demand platform, which also maintains a sales office in Elstree, in the North of London, is currently advertising several new jobs because they need more team members to accommodate the growth.

The new equipment includes a flatbed printer, which can imprint up to 60 notebooks with a varnish simultaneously and a 360 degree cylinder printer for water bottles and flasks that has a capacity of 250 pieces per hour. Merchr has additionally installed a GraphTec cutting plotter that generates a relief print with a vinyl finish as well as a laser-controlled double thermal transfer printer for glitter, neon and structured prints on T-shirts, hats and co. The fifth new device is a 360 degree hot press machine for hats.

Jack Fox, Plant Manager at Merchr: “Advancements in technology have opened doors to a new era of sustainable merchandise printing. The ability to print retail quality items on demand without having to order in bulk, not only enhances our commitment to sustainability but also empowers our store owners with more choice and customisation options. Customers will benefit from even higher quality printing with varnish finishes and faster turnaround times. For example, it takes only two minutes to full colour print a water bottle.”
