CH – This year’s edition of markeding Switzerland was staged in Zurich on March 7, 2023. The venue for the “Festival for Haptic Advertising and Multisensory Marketing” was the spacious congress house in the city centre, which granted the visitors and exhibitors a view of the picturesque Lake Zurich.

The organiser – Michael Mätzener’s company PromoFacts – had altered the original concept of the trade show. For example, users who didn’t belong to the five sponsoring trade agencies (cadolino/Lacoray, diewerbeartikel gmbh, E7 Promotion, Polydono and SimCla) or had not been invited by them, were allowed to attend the event and communicate with the exhibitors. According to the official figures, 69 exhibitors – most of whom were haptic advertising suppliers, but also companies from other multisensory disciplines – presented their products and services to the 815 visitors registered, most of whom streamed into the extremely attractive location with its impressive ambience in the morning already. Mätzener commented, “having the courage to introduce changes paid off completely.”

The accompanying supporting programme – a multifaceted lecture programme and workshops on current themes such as the implementation of artificial intelligence in marketing or search engine marketing for SMEs – went down very well with the visitors. In some cases, the formats were so well-attended that not all of the interested parties were able to find a seat. Furthermore, a new app was launched for the show, which aimed to make the visit to the show easier and which also offered the exhibitors digital support. The exhibitors were particularly pleased about the high frequency of visitors in the morning. They also praised the good organisation, the impressive location in the heart of Zurich and the open, often concrete discussions with competent visitors, who were frequently accompanied and advised by employees from the sponsoring agencies.

Mätzener summed up: “Thanks to the supporting programme that was very popular – the workshops were even almost overcrowded at lunchtime, which is very unusual for Switzerland – we succeeded in encouraging the visitors to spend a long time at the event. In this way, over 200 visitors were present at the markeding from when the doors opened at 9.00 a.m. until 4.00 p.m.” The visitors obviously approved of the new event concept.

A detailed report will follow in the eppi magazine No. 148 (May 17, 2023).
