M83 Charcoal Grey Melange - Mantis: Emission target confirmedUK – After two years’ of work, the emission goal of Mantis World has been confirmed by the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi). The joint initiative of the four organisations – the CDP (formerly: Carbon Disclosure Project), the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute and the World Wide Fund for Nature – develops methods and criteria for effective climate protection within companies and validates the companies’ targets. The focus here lies on the amount of emissions that have to be reduced in order to reach the goals of the Paris Convention – the reduction of global warming down to 1.5 °C.

Mantis has committed itself to reduce its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 50% by the year 2030 and to begin with the recording and reduction of the Scope 3 emissions. “We are delighted,” said Prama Bhardwaj, Mantis World’s CEO & Founder, “our work in the adoption of regenerative and organic agriculture is well-established. To have our carbon reduction target validated by SBTi – the leading and most robust framework for all industries – shows Mantis World’s determination and commitment to leading the fight against climate change. This is one of our biggest steps on the journey to sustainability and we hope it serves as an example for the industry to follow.”

Mantis has already been working with organic cotton for its collections since 2005. The complete switch-over to organic cotton followed at the start of 2022. The London-based textile specialist has additionally been implemented fibres made from recycled polyester since 2017.
