fareoekobrella klimaneutral - Fare: Climate neutral umbrella range

The entire ÖkoBrella family now bears the “climate neutral” label.

D – Fare’s ÖkoBrella product family is climate neutral with immediate effect: Several climate protection projects have been compensating for the entire CO2 footprint of the umbrella line since June 2022. The “climate neutral” label  of ClimatePartner documents the certified climate neutrality on the product pages of the Fare website as well as on hangtags on the umbrellas in the near future.

For Fare, which has been a climate neutral company since 2021 and was additionally distinguished as an Ökoprofit business a few months ago, making its ÖkoBrella family climate neutral is a further consistent element of its sustainable strategy. As a result of the certified label for both the company (Corporate Carbon Footprint, CCF) and the ÖkoBrella umbrellas (Product Carbon Footprint, PCF) the climate neutrality of the entire delivery chain is secured.

The first step on the way to the climate neutrality of the ÖkoBrella product family involved determining the CO2 footprint of the umbrellas: Together with the climate protection agency, ClimatePartner, Fare calculates the total CO2 emissions from the production, to the transport, incl. packaging, through to the disposal. In the second stage, all possible ways of avoiding and reducing CO2 are analysed and implemented. As soon as the scope of the unavoidable CO2 emissions was ascertained, the final step was carried out, namely the selection of the climate protection projects. The volume of CO2 emitted is compensated for with these measures in a transparent manner. The unavoidable emissions of the ÖkoBrella family are compensated for by projects in Indonesia and Brazil, Haiti and the Philippines, in India as well as in Sierra Leone – among other things plastic waste is collected to reduce the pollution of the seas and to recycle the plastic. Solar and wind parks are also built to generate green power.

Fare stated that the CO2  emissions have been significantly reduced over the past years across the entire product portfolio thanks to the joint efforts of all suppliers and service partners the umbrella specialist collaborates with. Since their introduction in the year 2011, the umbrellas of the ÖkoBrella series have stood for sustainability and innovation. The models are made to a large extent from recycled or regrowing raw materials, including frames made of bamboo which originate from sustainable forest management and waterSave covers comprising of recycled plastic, the production process of which enables the water consumption to be reduced by 90%.
