UK – The London-based clothing specialist, Mantis World, has been awarded the B Corp certification. To achieve the certification the British company has implemented the prescribed social and environmental standards in all areas. Prama Bhardwaj, CEO and founder, who considers her company to be a pioneer in the ecological clothes production sector, is delighted at obtaining the distinction: “It’s a huge team achievement that solidifies everything we’ve been working on for over 20 years and lays the foundations for the continuation of that journey,“ she said.
The “B” stands for “Benefit for all” and evaluates products and corporate processes according to their impact on people and the environment. “Joining the B Corp community of likeminded companies brings exciting opportunities for sharing experience, knowledge and adding our voice to the drive to reinvent business by pursuing purpose as well as profit,” Bhardwaj stated. The entrepreneur explained that the B Corp certification is a glimmer of hope in a world full of social and ecological challenges. According to Melanie Metz, Sustainability Executive at Mantis World, the certification process was long, complicated, and thorough: “It was all-encompassing. Evidence was provided of socially and environmentally responsible practices across all areas of the business – from energy supplies, waste and water use, through to worker compensation, diversity and corporate transparency.”
