The Digital Product Passport enables all production steps of a product to be traced.
NL – SL Bags, the bag manufacturer and brand behind the Vasad and Recycle Bags collections, launched its Digital Product Passport (DPP) in January 2026. This allows customers to trace and verify the entire journey of a product, from the sourcing of raw materials and the factory where the bag is manufactured, to the CO2 emissions generated during production.
“As a family business, we want to pass our world on to the next generation in good condition,” said CEO and owner Peter van der Sandt. “Our Digital Product Passport offers our customers complete transparency. Every Vasad and Recycle bag tells a story of integrity, responsibility and care. Now everyone can follow this journey step by step.”
The Trace Me! technology makes this transparency possible. On scanning the QR code on the bag, customers gain direct access to the Digital Product Passport and can explore the origin, materials and impact of their bag. In this way, SL Bags’ sustainability claims are not just abstract, but indeed verifiable. According to SL Bags, responsible production becomes a verifiable reality, offering customers an honest story behind their purchase and the confidence to make a responsible choice.
In collaboration with the cooperative Ippag (International Partnership for Premiums and Gifts), which SL Bags has been an official partner of since January 1, 2026, the CO2 footprint of each bag was measured accurately. The CO2 footprint is calculated according to Ippag’s ISO-certified methodology, ensuring reliable and verifiable data. This data is integrated into the DPP (Digital Product Portfolio) and provides an insight into the brand’s efforts to manage and minimise emissions responsibly.
Through its partnership with Ippag, SL Bags also demonstrates its commitment to sustainability, transparency, and innovation.
