RO – According to media reports, Printmasters’ production facility in Cicârlău, Romania, will cease operations at the end of May 2027, with the company closing completely by December 31, 2027. Approximately 450 employees are affected by the closure of the location.
The decision is said to be the result of the strategic alignment of the Solo Group, to which Printmasters belongs. The Group concluded that its long-term business strategy regarding production and logistics could best be implemented by operating a single production facility in Central and Eastern Europe – the Solo subsidiary, Mid Ocean, already owns extensive production and logistics facilities in Poland.
“This was an extremely difficult decision that is by no means a reflection of the performance of Printmasters or its employees. Printmasters has consistently delivered high-quality work and played a key role in business development. The decision is driven solely by the Group’s long-term business strategy,” stated Jacques de Boer, CEO of Printmasters.
Printmasters has reportedly committed to supporting all employees with a financial settlement package that includes severance pay, job-search assistance and access to counseling. Throughout the process, the company intends to work closely with employee representatives and local authorities, in full compliance with Romanian labour law.
