The Koziol family business from Erbach in the Odenwald region, now in its third generation, will celebrate its 99th anniversary in 2026. The company was founded on November 27, 1927, by Bernhard Koziol when he registered his business as an ivory carver. Initially, the workshop produced jewellery made of ivory, mother-of-pearl and amber. In the early 1930s, Koziol began manufacturing jewellery from new, thermoplastic materials.
Today, Koziol’s collections serve four business areas: The gastronomy, hotels, catering and take-away business, the promotional products industry, specialist retailers and B2C. Stephan Koziol, the youngest son of the company’s founder, joined the firm in 1979 and he is meanwhile the owner.
The globally-operating company still focuses on its core values of good design, sustainability and craftsmanship. Valuable expertise, as well as fair, transparent and resource-conserving production, are guaranteed since the products are exclusively manufactured in Germany. “Our greatest strength is and remains to be our own production here in the Odenwald region. This is what makes us and our work so unique and it sets us apart on the global market. Even after 99 years, we still feel like a traditional craft business and, like the company founder before us, continue to find joy in bringing beautiful things into people’s homes,” the owner, Stephan Koziol, stated.
One of Koziol’s most important core values is sustainability, and according to the company, it continuously invests in this multifaceted area. State-of-the-art technologies and cutting-edge machinery particularly enable resource-efficient production and contribute towards a significant reduction in CO2 emissions. Koziol also relies on renewable energy sources for its energy supply, covering a large portion of its electricity needs with its own photovoltaic system. The use of materials based on recycled vegetable oils is another important aspect. “Our portfolio is unparalleled on the market. We help our customers operate more sustainably and stand for unique, award-winning products, responsible resource management as well as for environmentally-friendly production. Happiness is sustainability,” commented Koziol.
The third generation has already been working at the company for over ten years, namely Daniel Koziol, continuing to develop the brand and carrying on the family business tradition responsibly and with fresh ideas. The CEO, Daniel Koziol, is convinced: “Our competitive advantage lies in our flexibility and modernity: We consistently invest in state-of-the-art technologies, drive digitalisation internally, rely on renewable energies and meet the highest certification standards. Combined with our expertise, craftsmanship, creativity and an excellent understanding of market and customer needs, this makes us unbeatable.”
