A – The new pocket umbrella, Knirps X4U, has been distinguished with the coveted design prize, the Red Dot Award. The model convinced among around 20,000 international entries with its well-thought out construction, choice of materials and the innovative Knirps Dry Case® – a case that is coated with microfibers that absorb moisture after use and thus ensures dry bags en route.
The extremely light-weight umbrella (130 g) combines two successful models from Knirps’ history and thus offers maximum comfort despite its minimal weight. The X4U is wind channel-tested up to 100 km/h and the manufacturer promises a five-year guarantee.

As a 2025 Red Dot winner, the Award label will in future be directly imprinted onto the umbrella. Furthermore, the umbrella will be listed in the Red Dot Design Yearbook on the official database and exhibited in the Essen Design Museum. The company stated that the prize is an international quality seal: “A visible sign for excellent design, which offers both dealers and end customers orientation and guarantees quality.”
