ppai logo wht 3 - PPAI: First survey on the Canadian marketUSA – The North American promotional products association, PPAI (Promotional Products Association International), published a survey on the Canadian promotional products market for the first time on July 24, 2024. The survey entitled 2023 Canadian Distributor Sales Volume was carried out in cooperation with the PPAI partner association, Promotional Products Professionals of Canada (PPPC).

According to the survey, the market volume of the promotional products trade in Canada in the year 2023 amounted to approx. 1.33 billion Canadian Dollars (CAD), which corresponds to around 984.2 mil. US Dollars or 886.6 mil. Euros and was thus significantly less than the amount expected: Based on the population of the two countries, one had assumed that Canada would turn over approx. 10% of the US American market volume. According to the PPAI, the promotional products trade in the USA made a turnover of more than 26 billion US Dollars (approx. 24 billion Euros) in 2023. “This discrepancy highlights the unique geographic and demographic factors at play in Canada,” says Alok Bhat, market economist and research lead at PPAI.

“We expected the size of the Canadian promotional products market to be larger, as I’m sure many of our members did,” says Josh Ellis, publisher and editor-in-chief of PPAI Media. “Yet the smaller overall market should be promising to our members, as it clearly has room to grow.”

In detail, the survey comes to the conclusion that companies with an annual turnover of more than 2.5 million Canadian Dollars (1.85 mil. USD or 1.71 mil. Euros) dominate the market and make up nearly 75% of the overall turnover volume of the Canadian promotional products trade. The average turnover volume is 695,000 CAD (approx. 514,000 USD or 485,000 Euros). Furthermore, 23% of the overall turnover is achieved with sustainable products.
