paragraph 300x189 1 - British market: CE mark for electronic itemsUK – The British government has passed a law that recognises the CE mark for electronic items for access to the British market for an unlimited period. According to the information platform on the CE mark, ce-richtlinien.eu, the change comes into effect on October 1, 2024, i.e. prior to the planned UKCA introductory date on December 31, 2024. A UKCA mark for electronic products is thus currently no longer necessary.

The UKCA mark was to replace the EU-wide valid CE mark after the United Kingdom left the EU on February 1, 2020. The latter would have been valid up until the end of the year including the transitional period and continues to be valid in the United Kingdom in future according to the new legislation.

A list of the products and guidelines, for which the UKCA mark is no longer necessary, can be found at www.ce-richtlinien.eu.
