D – The writing instrument manufacturer uma has installed a photovoltaic system that has been fully operable since April 2023. uma’s aim behind this investment is to further improve its ecological footprint. According to company statements, the solar system with approx. 450 kW/peak is one of the larger installations of its kind in the vicinity of the company, which achieves an autarky rate of 40%.

Solar panels are attached to all three factory buildings – on the West, South and East sides. As such, the complete production, administration and the warehouse can fall back on autark power sources. The anticipated volume of non-self-consumed electricity of 240 MWh per year will be fed into the public network. Hence, beyond covering its own needs, the family business is also making a contribution towards the sustainable supply of the region with green electricity.
