Contemporary Leather, the Indian subsidiary of Leather Business, UK-Worcester, is ISO 14064-3:2019 certified with immediate effect and according to company accounts operates on a climate neutral basis. Contemporary Leather is thus allegedly the first leatherwear factory in India that conforms with this ISO standard and follows a climate neutral process. The ISO 14064 norm contains clear guidelines and demands for the quantification and verification of greenhouse emissions.

Contemporary Leather’s Managing Director, Sriram Rangaswami, stated: “Since COVID-19, CL have more than doubled sales, taken on several new major accounts and become the first leather goods factory in India that is not only fully audited, but also carbon neutral. In addition, we have opened a second factory taking total space to 50,000 sq. ft, in order to cope with increased demand and to enable a workforce of 750 colleagues”. He went on to say, “we are determined to give our employees the best possible working conditions, which includes a free hot lunch each day and transport to and from work.”
