UK – The British Laltex Group from Leigh, near Manchester, looks back on 60 years of company history. In November 1962, Rajan Mulchand opened the UK division of the trading company founded by his father in the British Crown Colony Hong Kong as an independent company.
Since being established, Laltex has been divided up into seven business areas: Laltex Promo serves as a promotional products distributor, Source It offers procurement and production services in China, RJM sells textiles, Lloytron electronic goods, Pencom writing instruments and KS Brands specialises in umbrellas, bags, shoes and hot water bottles, whilst Bags HQ offers both bags and notebooks.
Like its sister company in Hong Kong, Laltex UK is still owned by the Mulchand family to this very day. Rajan Mulchand is the founder and long-standing Chairman of the group, which according to own accounts employs over 200 people in the United Kingdom alone and has subsidiaries and representatives all over the world. Laltex was based in the Canal Street in Manchester as of 1969, before moving into new premises spanning 20,000 m² in Leigh in 1999. The new building also accommodates an in-house printing shop, where promotional products for the European market can be individualised within short lead-times. A delighted Neil Horner, Managing Director of the company, stated “What an amazing journey it has been so far, from selling flip over calculators and light pens to what feels like pretty much everything else!!! We’ve developed and changed so much over the course of the last 60 years and we are looking forward to what the next 60 years have in store for us.”
