iena23v - iENA: Three quarters of a century of innovationsD – The first inventor show took place in Nuremberg in 1948, hence the International Trade Show for “Ideas – Inventions – Novelties”, iENA, is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. For three days from October 28-30, 2023 inventors from all over the globe presented their ideas and tried to convince investors, licensing firms and companies. Both individual and groups of inventors, high schools, universities and companies as well as the German Patent and Trademark Office with its partners, the Federal Ministry for Economics and Climate Protection, the European Union Office for Intellectual Property and Bayern Innovativ exhibited at the show.

As well as the award winners of the Youth Researches, numerous additional young inventors from Germany, but also from Angola, China, Korea, Croatia and Vietnam were present in Nuremberg. This year’s partner country was China, represented by the China Association of Inventions (CAI). The German Inventors Association (DEV) was on-site as a point of contact; current questions and support for inventors was on the agenda in the Forum of the iENA. Furthermore, an expert jury assessed all of the inventions presented at the iENA – the best of which were honoured with medals in a festive ceremony held on the last day of the show.

Henning and Thilo Könicke, Managing Directors of the organisers, AFAG Messen & Ausstellungen, were satisfied with the anniversary event: “We were able to present over 500 exciting ideas, inventions and novelties in Nuremberg. The exhibiting inventors reported about good discussions and new prospects for their innovations. It was clearly noticeable that the quality of the innovations presented has increased. This meant that the iENA provided a particularly attractive offer for investors and licensing companies.”
