D – Global Innovations Germany is expanding its sustainability strategy by concentrating on the development of household products that are compostable at home with leaving behind microplastic debris.
The promotional products specialist has received a certificate from the German Food, Commodities and Animal Feed Civil Code (LFGB) as well as confirmation of the dishwasher compatibility of the newly developed home compostable biocomposite from the technical monitoring authorities, TÜV. This enables Global Innovations to make products for the household area that come into contact with foodstuffs from the patented material – for example cutlery, lunchboxes and coffee mugs.
Up until now numerous garden items made from the home compostable materials have been developed and sold. Global Innovations considers the fields of application in the household section to be equally diversified. According to own accounts, the material can be used for almost every product that is made using the injection-moulding method without reducing the stability of the items’s form. In comparison to industrial composition for which temperatures of up to approx. 60 °C are required, the innovative material can be composted in normal soil or on the home compost heap.

According to our research this is the first material worldwide that can be composted at home while at the same time being food-safe and compatible for the dishwasher,” said an overjoyed Torsten Münich, CEO of Global Innovations. Global Innovations holds the exclusive franchise for selling the material worldwide and the producer network will be gradually further expanded, step by step. Both product requests and the material can be sourced via the German company. In order to avoid long transport routes, in addition to the production in Asia, a European manufacturing plant has been set up.
