The German family business implements resource-saving materials for their plastic production and is successively extending their use of alternative raw materials. According to company accounts, elasto has not only been climate positive since 2022, but also ISCC Plus-certified.
The International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) Standard is an independent, voluntary worldwide certification system that spans the entire supply chain. It documents the implementation of resource-saving raw materials and products that are made from them. The standard rests on three pillars: The eco-friendly implementation of raw materials and ecological land usage, safe working conditions and social fairness across the entire value chain as well as economic sustainability in the form of the monitoring of greenhouse gas emissions, constant recycling and the usage of production waste.
For the plastic production of ISCC-certified articles, elasto replaces fossil resources with sustainable bio-circular material. Bio-circular polypropylene is made from regrowing raw materials such as pine oil, used cooking oil, straw or forest waste. The finished product comprises of this bio-based material to 87% in line with the ISCC mass-balance approach. The company from Sulzbach-Rosenberg is currently working on a new, ISCC-certified product line.
