UK – The British textile company Mantis World was distinguished at this year’s Ryan Young Climate+ Award in the category “Climate Leaders”. The Award is conferred by the global, non-profit-making organisation, Textile Exchange, whose aim is to connect brands, suppliers and retailers across the entire textile industry and support them on the way to increased sustainability. The competition was initiated in commemoration of the former Textile Exchange-COO, Ryan Young, who tragically lost his life in 2020.
Among other things, Mantis was distinguished for its “innovative, scaleable and transparent programmes” such as the Impact Calculator, which underlines to the wearers the positive impact that chosing an organic garment of clothing has on the environment. Furthermore, the company achieved the highest number of points in the Material Change Index, the largest peer-to-peer comparison initiative within the textile industry.
This year’s winners of the Ryan Young Climate+ Award were announced on November 16 at the Textile Sustainability Conference 2021 in Dublin, Ireland.
