vog topkapi - VOG Tekstil: Fashion inspired by IstanbulTo commemorate the 25th anniversary of the company, the work and promo wear manufacturer from Istanbul, VOG Tekstil, has entered a cooperation with the Institute for Fashion and Textile Design of the Okan University Istanbul: In collaboration with the professors of the Institute, in the course of an internship at VOG Tekstil, five Italian exchange students turned their attentions to the Turkish metropolis and chose five historical sights. The resulting collections focused on the Topkapi Palace, the Grand Bazaar, the Basilica Cisterna, the Archaeology Museum and the Galata Tower and are perfectly suited for the respective sights’ staff.

The work uniform designs of the five students Alessia La Marca, Flavia Siano, Giulia Di Liberto, Ilaria Angelino and Roberta Polverino are based on the architecture of the places and on the cuts of traditional Turkish clothing, combined with modern forms. For example, classic suits with ties and waistcoats for the museum staff are paired with a fez, which formed an integral part of the Ottoman uniforms, whilst turbans and cuts based on older traditional costumes were chosen for the employees of the Topkapi Palace. Parallel to the way Istanbul is seen as a bridge between Europe and Asia, the five collections combine traditional and modern aspects, architecture and fashion as well as education and the industry.

VOG Tekstil is delighted about this successful cooperation. “Such valuable projects can be of a great advantage to both parties. The universities gain access to our expertise and our resources in the industry, whilst companies like ours can profit from the university’s knowledge and research,” the company stated. “Such cooperations offer students the opportunity to gain practical experience in the course of concrete projects and get to know the latest production technologies and trends of the fashion industry.”
