D – The 28th edition of the International Trade Fair for Retail Promotions and Imports (IAW) came to an end in Cologne on September 21, 2018 after three days, amid late summer temperatures, with a new exhibitor area and attendance on par with the good results of last autumn. According to the official figures, 8,250 trade visitors from all over the world (autumn 2017: 8,200) attended the largest ordering show in Europe and showed keen interest at the stands of the 362 exhibitors (autumn 2017: 348), including also promotional products importers, who traditionally use the show to sell off residual stock and discontinued products. The new exhibition “e-commerce quarter” area went down very well with the visitors according to the organisers – the exhibition company Bremen-Hannover mbH.
Workshops, discussions and lectures took part in the IAW Trend Forum and in the E-Commerce Arena on all three days, which were mostly very well attended by the visitors. In general, there was a trend towards natural products at the autumn edition of the IAW, the DIY theme is also still booming. In addition to handicrafts like sewing and knitting, the outdoor, camping and garden sectors are also experiencing strong growth. Furthermore, there is a noticeable tendency towards more high-quality products.
The coming IAW spring show has with the agreement of the exhibitors and visitors been pulled forward to take place from February 25-27, 2019, parallel to the cooperation event, Asia-Pacific Sourcing.
