D – According to official accounts, this year’s dmexco, which was staged in Cologne on September 12 and 13, 2018 recorded around 41,000 trade visitors and thus a slight increase in attendance compared to the previous year (2017: 40,700 trade visitors). As usual, the guests, which included an international share of 45%, took advantage of the opportunity to inform themselves about the current and future business potential of the digital economy, establish business contacts and place orders at the stands of the over 1,000 exhibitors from 40 countries (2017: 1,100 exhibitors from 39 countries) and more than 550 speakers at Koelnmesse.
The digital experts and marketing decision-makers primarily discussed the effects of the technological progress on human beings and the relationship between marketing and its users at the dmexco 2018. Allegedly, the central aim of both digital marketing and e-Commerce is to retain or regain the trust of the users in a rapidly developing technological environment. The discussions left no doubt that artificial intelligence (AI) will be one of the significant mega trends of the coming years and decades.
The new “World of Agencies” met with a positive response from the public and exhibitors, where 16 companies exhibited this year. The stages of the dmexco Conference and “The dmexco and Unilever Foundry Start-up Hatch“ pitch format introduced last year were also well-attended. Overall 170 companies participated in the Start-up Village at the dmexco this year.
