D – The Schwan-STABILO group announced its figures for the past fiscal year (reporting date: June 30, 2017). The family business that is being run in the fifth generation, achieved an overall turnover of 713.5 mil. Euros (previous year: 706.7 mil. Euros) with its three business units Cosmetics, Writing Instruments and Outdoor. Whereas the Cosmetics division made a turnover of 364.7 mil. Euros (previous year : 364.3 mil. Euros), the turnover of the sub-group STABILO declined slightly down to 184.4 mil. Euros compared to the previous business year (previous year: 185.2 mil. Euros). The Outdoor section turned over 164.2 mil. Euros (previous year: 157.1 mil. Euros). “Fortunately, we were able to retain the very high level of turnover in all business units and each division succeeded in holding on to its top ranking in spite of the tough conditions,” explained the group CEO, Dr. Jörg Karas.
According to company accounts, the writing instrument division grew stronger than its rivals in spite of the declining markets in Europe. The downturn in the colouring trend for adults was compensated by the creative hand-lettering trend.
