D – When the 26th edition of the International Trade Fair for Retail Promotions and Imports (IAW) came to a close on September 22, it had recorded a 10% increase in the number of exhibitors compared to last year’s autumn show. In Halls 6 and 9 of Koelnmesse in Cologne, 348 international companies from different trading segments presented their products and services on exhibition space spanning 28,000 m². With an attendance figure of 8,200 visitors, the trade fair that is traditionally also used by promotional products importers for selling off residual stock and discontinued items, once again experienced a slight decline in the number of visitors (Autumn 2016: around 8,500).

At this year’s autumn edition of IAW, among others the focus lay on sustainability, which is obviously becoming more and more an issue in the trend items segment. The “green” product innovations included among others eco-friendly carpets, vegan energy drinks or bio-degradable batteries. The offer of the IAW was rounded off as usual by lectures and expert insights into the retail trades, marketing and E-Commerce.

The IAW is scheduled twice a year. The next spring edition will be staged in Cologne from February 27 – March 1, 2018.
