USA – According to the turnover figures for 2016 recently published, the office item chain Staples experienced a 2.8% decline in turnover down to 18.2 billion US Dollars (approx. 17.1 billion Euros). The promotional products business area – Staples Promotional Products – was on the other hand able to increase its turnover, which grew by a mid single-digit percent range.

In order to further increase its turnover in future and generate sustainable grow, Staples plans to close further retail branches and focus more strongly on the B2B segment. 48 shops were already closed in North America last year and all subsidiaries in Great Britain were sold. In 2017 a further 70 stores are to be closed.
