D – The 68th International Toy Fair, the largest and most important trade show for toys, took place in Nuremberg from February 1-6, 2017. 2,871 companies (2016: 2,851) from 63 countries presented their line-ups to the visitors: from cuddly toys and dolls, to parlour and card games, through to lifestyle and trend items. According to the official figures, in total 73,000 visitors (2016: 70,714) – and thus 3.2% more than in the previous year – from 123 nations travelled to Nuremberg to examine novelties, network and last, but not least experience something. The share of international dealers and buyers was high, having risen from 58% up to 60%. Most of the trade visitors came from Europe, Asia and America; Italy, Russia and China recorded the highest increases.
According to own accounts, over 85% of the exhibitors were totally satisfied with their participation at the Toy Fair, over 90% intend to exhibit again next year. Among others, the special events of the Toy Fair such as “Tech2Play”, where the focus was on the latest technological toys, went down very well with the visitors. The special baby and toddlers’ items zone met with an overall positive response and according to the visitor survey its relevance experienced a significant gain.
