UK – On September 14, 2016 the BPMA (British Promotional Merchandise Association), organised an own trade show called the BPMA Show for its association members for the first time. According to the official accounts, 93 promotional products suppliers presented their products at “The Wing” event centre on the Grand Prix circuit in Silverstone. In addition to British manufacturers and importers, several suppliers from the European mainland – mostly represented by local agents or partners – were among the exhibitors. Around 400 visitors from the British promotional products trade travelled to the trade show debut of the BPMA, in some cases with their whole sales teams. Furthermore, several distributors took the opportunity to bring end customers with them to the event, who were identifiable as such through different coloured lanyards. Many exhibitors praised both the quantity and the quality of the visitors as well as the organisation of the BPMA, who had indeed come up with some interesting ideas, including several special zones such as an exhibition with product designs by design students as well as a first-class supporting programme: Around 140 people visited the Education Day of the show, during the course of which 13 famous international speakers addressed industry themes. Furthermore, approx. 250 guests took part in the Annual Awards Dinner on the evening of the show, which included the award ceremony of the BPMA Awards.
Overall a successful debut, which the association intends to top next year: At the closing of the show, the BPMA and the British industry service provider Sourcing City – organiser of the Sourcing City Marketplace at the end of September – announced that they will be cooperating next year. In September 2017, a joint two-day event is to be organised. Details and the venue date will follow shortly.
A detailed report will be published in the coming issue of eppi magazine, No. 113 (October 5, 2016).
