CN – This year’s edition of the Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair was staged from April 27-30, 2016. The venue of the 31st event – according to official statements the “largest event of its kind in the world” – was the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). As usual, the trade show was organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) in cooperation with the Hong Kong Exporters’ Association (HKEA). Both of the organisers also staged the eleventh edition of the International Printing & Packaging Fair, which takes place simultaneously at the Asia World-Expo. Benson Pau, Vice Chairman of the HKEA: “We are able to announce an increase in the number of exhibitors again this year: 4,312 exhibitors from 35 countries and regions presented their portfolios and novelties at the largest show of its kind in the world.” In 2015, there were 4,262 exhibitors, whose stands were visited by 51,575 people, according to the official figures. The attendance figure for 2016 was not available at the time of going to press. However, according to the estimates of the exhibitors, the attendance figures of the previous years were not achieved, a good mood prevailed nevertheless.
At times there was plenty of hustle and bustle in Hall 1 – where the “Hall of Fine Designs” and the “World of Gift Ideas” were accommodated with 930 exhibitors in total. The lecture programme also took place here. However, some of the visitors had expected more creative and innovative impulses especially in Hall 1. As in the past, several country pavilions were located in Hall 3. The Pavilion of the HKEA was located in Hall 5. Here, the winners of the Smart Gifts Design Awards 2016 could also be admired. What’s more, several new zones had been introduced – “Art & DIY Gifts”, “BYOB (Bring your own Bag)”, “Photographic & Camera Accessories” and “Trophies and Medals”. As in the previous years, one of the main focuses of the products lay on electronic items and i-accessories.
A detailed report will follow in the coming issue of eppi magazine, No. 111 (June 8, 2016).
