D – The third edition of the Expo 4.0 took place at the Stuttgart Exhibition Centre from February 4-6, 2016. In 2016, the event quartet that is staged every two years comprised of the trade shows TV TecStyle Visions (textile embellishing & promotion), wetec (advertising technologies, digital printing, lighting advertising and signage) GiveADays (promotional products) and POS Masters (marketing, design and technologies at the POS). Hence, there was a change in the composition: This year, the POS Masters that already made up part of the event in 2012 replaced the DS Tec (digital advertising and information systems), which was one of the four pillars of the Expo 4.0 in 2014.

At the GiveADays promotional product suppliers presented a wide spectrum of promotional products.

At the GiveADays promotional product suppliers presented a wide spectrum of promotional products.

According to official statements by the organisers, gmk & WNP Fachmessen, 575 exhibitors (2014: 495 exhibitors) from 20 countries presented their products and services in four halls of the exhibition complex. Whereas the GiveADays and POS Masters sectors were located in Hall 2, the TecStyle Visions occupied the most space in Halls 4 and 6. The trade fair is considered to be one of the most important events for textile suppliers and wholesalers as well as for the suppliers of customising machines. The wetec, whose partner country was Switzerland this year, was staged in Hall 8.

The exhibitors especially highlighted the fact that since the four shows are held simultaneously it offers them the opportunity to attract the attention of potential new customers and demonstrate expansion possibilities beyond their respective core business to them. According to the official figures, with an attendance of around 13,000 visitors, less specialised buyers attended the show compared to the last edition (2014: 14,681 visitors), whereby at the same time there was an increase in the level of internationality of the visitors, who travelled to the event from 36 countries. The opinion of the exhibitors represented at the GiveADays varied – particularly those promotional products suppliers, whose product portfolios ideally supplement the offer of the textile customisers, reported a successful outcome.

A detailed report will be published in eppi magazine, No. 110 (April 13, 2016).
