D – This year’s Summer Meeting of the German Association of Promotional Products Suppliers (BWL) took place on June 30 and July 1, at the RheinEnergie Stadium in Cologne. Approx. 100 attendees further discussed the plans to merge the four existing German promotional products associations BWL, bwg, AKW and GWW into one joint association. The task forces in charge of the project reported their results, in the meantime, the idea of a joint association enjoys the broad support of the German industry. The Chairman of the distributor association bwg, Joachim Schulz, stated that the Executive Board of the bwg intends to support the joint association’s intentions, even if certain points of criticism still exist. The task forces intend to present a ready-for-approval concept regarding the new structure of the association by September. The members of the individual associations are then to decide by the end of the year, whether they agree to a merger. The new joint association is to be launched under the name GWW at the beginning of 2015.

Further themes addressed at the meeting included the latest economic figures on the German market, the CSR programme of the European umbrella association EPPA (European Promotional Products Association), which was presented by the new EPPA President Thomas Hendriksen, and a lecture on the theme “What we can learn from football”. A review of this year’s Newsweek, the annual road show organised by the BWL, and a preview of the Newsweek 2015 brought the meeting to a close. The Newsweek will once again cooperate with the Promgifts in Brussels and the marke [ding] in Vienna in 2015.
