USA – American Apparel has dismissed its CEO and founder Dov Charney with immediate effect, the interim CEO is John Luttrell. According to the official declaration of June 18, 2014, “Investigations concerning possible misconduct” have been initiated against Charney. He has been suspended after allegations of sexual harassment and will leave the company within the next 30 days.

Charney founded American Apparel in 1989 in Montréal Canada and later relocated the company’s offices to Los Angeles. The company currently employs 10,000 people and operates around 250 subsidiaries in 20 countries, including also several branches in Germany. The textile specialist has been battling against high debts and losses for several years.
