S – The Promotionmässan celebrated its premiere in the Kistamässan exhibition complex in Stockholm from August 13-15, 2013. The event has replaced the PRomotion Expo in Jönköping, which was staged for the last time – after 23 editions – early this year in January. The new show for the Swedish and Scandinavian industry is being organised by the exhibition organisers, Artexis, in cooperation with the Swedish industry association SBPR with additional support from the Swedish suppliers association, the PWA. The new trade fair addresses the same target group as the PRomotion Expo, namely promotional products distributors and advertising agencies; it is not open to industry users.
The official exhibitor and attendance figures were not available at the time of going to press, however, the number of exhibitors must have been around the same as at the PRomotion Expo – i.e. approx. 180. The majority of the exhibitors were Swedish companies. Furthermore, several companies and brands from other Scandinavian and European countries were present, most of whom were represented by their respective local agents. The trade fair was accompanied by a seminar programme.
The trade show was evidently well attended and many of the exhibitors gave a positive feedback. Whether the organisers achieved their goal of attracting more visitors from abroad as a result of their more central location remains to be seen. One will also have to wait and see whether the Promotionmässan can establish itself as the new Scandinavian industry platform. At any rate, ten editions are initially planned over the next five years, one in January and one in August, as was previously the case in Jönköping.
A detailed report will appear in the next issue of eppi magazine, No. 95 (September 25, 2013).
