D – This year’s Tendence was staged from June 24-27, in Frankfurt. According to the official figures, 20,000 visitors (2016: 22,742) used this four-day platform to gain inspiration from the 1,125 exhibitors (2016: 943) on product range and event design, the presentation of goods and customer acquisition at the POS, as well to order items and network. The product portfolio included the sections living, furnishing, decorating, gift items, jewellery, fashion supplies, home textiles and outdoor items.
In order to combat the fact that the attendance figures have been falling for years, the Tendence was realigned this year and took place for the first time at the end of June instead of at the end of August as in the past. Furthermore, the product range was expanded: On 92,000 square metres of space (2016: 82,300) on the one hand traditional product groups such as “Seasonal Decoration” or “Tableware” were significantly expanded, on the other hand new product segments such as Home Textiles, Potted Plants, Outdoor Furniture and Accessories were added. In addition to the autumn/winter 2017 line-ups, the exhibitors also presented specially labelled products and collections for the spring and summer of next year.
The new alignment of the Tendence obviously went down well: According to a representative survey, 86% of the visitors made positive comments on the success of their visit to the show and according to the organisers the exhibitors were also satisfied with the commitment of the Frankfurt Exhibition Centre and the new concept. Next year, the Tendence is scheduled to take place at the grounds of the Frankfurt Exhibition Centre from June 30-July 3, 2018.
