D – interpack, one of the largest and most important trade shows worldwide for the packaging and related processing industry, was held at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre from May 4-10, 2017. According to the official figures, 2,865 companies – more than ever before – presented their product ranges and services to 170,500 visitors (2014: 175,000 visitors). The high level of internationality among the visitors was remarkable this year: 74% travelled to the metropolis on the Rhine from abroad, three years ago the share of foreign visitors was 66%. The high number of German and international specialists from 168 countries in total, of whom three quarters were decision-makers, ensured a smile on the faces of the exhibitors, “who were delighted at promising business initiations and even concrete business transactions, not infrequently in the seven-digit region,” the event organisers, the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre GmbH, stated. Digitalisation, Industry 4.0 and sustainability were among the top trends this year. Furthermore, in the scope of the interpack, the third edition of the Save Food Congress was staged on May 4, which outlined the themes food loss and waste.
The coming interpack will take place at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre in May 2020, the exact venue dates will be announced at a later time.
