USA/CND – After the flailing Californian textile specialist American Apparel had once again filed for bankruptcy – according to the reports of diverse American media – it now seems definite that the company is to be sold to the Canadian textile producers, Gildan Activewear. In line with the corresponding agreement, the sale price is 66 mil. US Dollars (approx. 61.2 mil. Euros). According to the contract, the industrial property rights and the intellectual property rights as well as the entire warehouse stocks will pass over to Gildan. Furthermore, the Canadians have the possibility to take over the diverse production and sales centres. Gildan is not purchasing the shops and assets of American Apparel.
Should no further offers be placed for the acquisition of American Apparel, the sale to Gildan could already be completed within the first quarter of 2017.
