D – The concept was revised and the event took place at a new venue: To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Trend, the German Association of the Promotional Products Industry (GWW) as organisers of the event, had come up with several changes. First of all, the promotional products trade fair invited the guests to join them in the Mannheim Rose Garden in South Germany on September 16, 2016 instead of Neuss in the West as previously. Furthermore, the second day of the show, the Saturday, was completely cancelled. This however didn’t apply for the evening event, which took place before the show this year and which after two expert lectures by Dr. Janine von Wolfersdorff on the tax framework conditions for the implementation of promotional products and by Prof. Dr. Hans Rück on the new GWW Compliance Guidelines, was mainly dedicated to networking accompanied by live music and dining. The new concept received a positive feedback: “Overall, a tidy affair” was the conclusion of many of the 110 exhibitors and numerous visitors (the official attendance figure was not available at the time of going to press). Many people praised the spacious art nouveau ambiance and relaxed atmosphere in the exhibition hall. In spite of the reduction in format of the show, there was still sufficient time for the presentation of product novelties and trends as well as for competent consulting.
The GWW Executive Director, Ralf Samuel, was able to greet a famous guest at the Trend too: Lothar Binding, a German Member of Parliament and the financial and political spokesman of the Social Democratic Party of Germany, SPD, took the opportunity to gain an impression of the efficiency of the industry during the show.
