NL – After 40 years in the promotional products industry, Hans Janssen, managing partner of Het Portaal Uitgevers retired at the beginning of January 2016. Janssen‘s co-partner John Swaab has taken over his shares in the company and will run the Dutch publishing company as the sole managing shareholder in future. According to company accounts, Janssen will, however, continue to support Het Portaal in an advisory capacity and as an author.

Hans Janssen founded the publishing company Incentive Publications (later Langford Publications) in 1978. In 1981, he organised the trade show, Sale, for the first time, which advanced into becoming the largest trade show for sales promotion and direct marketing in Europe. In 1994, Janssen sold Langford Publications to the RAI Amsterdam, in 2000 he founded Het Portaal Uitgevers together with Eric Hoogland and John Swaab. Today, the specialist publishing company is the publisher of the Dutch trade magazines PromZ, PromZ Vak, Expovisie and Quality in Meetings and of the Belgian trade publication, Promobiss. Furthermore, the company organises the Dutch promotional products trade fairs PromZ, RelatieZ and Leveranciersdagen as well as operating diverse web portals.
