UK – The British industry association, the BPMA (British Promotional Merchandise Association) initiated a nationwide PR and Social Media campaign for the promotional product for the second time from September 15-19, 2014. According to official statements, over 150 members of the BPMA took part in various campaigns during the Promotional Products Week (PPW), the aim of which is to focus the attentions of the end users more on the promotional product and arouse the interest of the media.
The promotional week kicked off with the “Student Day”: 25 students from Brunel University set off through London as promoters following the motto “Promotional Products Rock!“. At the end of the first day, Gordon Glenister, Director General of the BPMA, completed the Ice Bucket Challenge in Russell Square Park in front of a large circle of curious onlookers. Furthermore, in the scope of the event week, the “Deskie of the Year 2014” was elected and the five most popular desk accessories were determined (pen, cup, sticky notes, note pad and calendar).
According to estimates by the BPMA, the promotion measures reached 17,8 mil. recipients including the comprehensive online activities on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. The Promotional Products Week will be repeated next year. “Plans and activities are already in the pipeline for PPW 2015, which will coincide with the BPMA’s 50th anniversary. As it will be a double celebration we want it to be much bigger and get the whole industry involved from the start,“ commented Glenister.
