USA – The US-American company A.T. Cross that is based in Lincoln, Rhode Island, has purchased the writing utensil manufacturer Sheaffer, which belongs to the BIC Group. According to official statements, Clarion Capitol Partners, the owners of the A.T. Cross business area writing instruments, paid 15 mil. US Dollar (approx. 11.4 mil. Euros) for Sheaffer. The acquisition is to be completed within the next 60 days, thereafter Sheaffer is to be integrated into the company A.T. Cross. “Acquiring Sheaffer will further A.T. Cross Company’s goal of becoming the leading provider of fine-writing instruments,” company representatives stated.
A.T. Cross is America’s oldest manufacturer of writing instruments. The company that was founded in 1846 also sells watches and reading glasses. Sheaffer was founded over 100 years ago in Iowa and specialises in the production of ballpoint pens, fountain pens and ink rollers. BIC purchased the company in 1997.
