Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair: New “Small Order Zone” a success

CN – The 27th edition of the Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair was staged from April 27-30, 2012 in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.  According to statements from the organisers, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), over 4,100 exhibitors (2011: 4074) from 35 countries presented their wares and fares at the trade fair, which they claim is the largest of its kind in the world. As in previous years the order book show was accompanied by a seminar programme and also featured the Hall of Fine Designs, where young designers from all over the globe presented their products.

The Small Order Zone was a new introduction to the show this year: The special area was dedicated to exhibitors that already deliver products in small volumes and makes ordering small volumes easier. An offer that according to own accounts went down very well. A further novelty this year was a design competition: Organised by the Hong Kong Exporters’ Association (HKEA), the Hong Kong Smart Gifts Design Awards were awarded on the first exhibition day.

The exact attendance figure was not available at the time of going to press, but apparently fewer Europeans visited the show compared to previous years. As many exhibitors and visitors reported the first exhibition day was the most well-attended. According to the official figures 46,019 trade visitors attended the trade fair in 2011.

A detailed report will appear in the next edition of eppi magazine (No. 87, May 30, 2012).
